Being A Conqueror Pt.2

Sermon Notes

A conqueror is someone who has overcome or someone who is victorious.

Paul has expounded divine love in this letter. Now he shifts to the disciple’s faith which works by love. Saying that Christians are one family, and they should honor one another with affection and love. And that they should be motivated by the spirit and only by the spirit.

Romans 12:15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

We should understand and share the feelings and emotions of others, but we tend to be jealous when others rejoice and to pass by when they mourn. God’s way is to enter the joys and sorrows of those around us.

Romans 12:16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

To be of the same mind toward one another does not mean that we must see alike on non-essential matters but we should agree in affection to LOVE our brethren as ourselves being humble toward those who are less fortunate.  Matthew 5:3  Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. We should know that everyone is equally precious to God. We should not let Presty's

Romans 12:17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

Repaying evil for evil is a common practice in this world. Men speak of getting tit for tat or giving someone what they deserve but there shouldn't be any place for that in the lives of those who have been redeemed. Just a sight of the glory of God dims the glory of this world. 1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcome the world:

Romans 12:18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

Christians should not be provoked. We should love peace, make peace, and be at peace when we have offended others or when someone has offended us. We should work for a peaceful resolution of the matter.

Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written,Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

We must resist the tendency to avenge wrongs that are done to us. God will repay at the proper time and in the proper manner let God deal with your adversaries. When others are angry, we must be calm.

Romans 12:20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

Christianity goes beyond non-resistance. It does not destroy its’ enemies by violence but converts them with love. It feeds the enemy when it’s hungry, and it satisfies its thirst when it is thirsty.

Romans 12:21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

I will never let another person ruin my life by making me hate. As believers we must not allow evil to conquer us, evil can be overpowered with LOVE.

Conclusion: This is a Powerful Spiritual weapon that we should use more frequently to defect the enemy.
