Having A Vision

Sermon Notes

A vision is having eyesight, the ability to see, or having a mental picture, an image, a concept in the imagination of the mind, or a series of images seen in a dream or trance. Often interpreted as having religious, prophetic, prophecy. In other words, the ability to anticipate possible future events and developments. Now, this is where the problem is, it is very important that we have a vision in front of us. In our life that is. But most of us don't. People always say the Bible says my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge that is true.

Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish, but he that keepers the law, happy is he.

Matthew 22:37-40  Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.  This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. I have said in the past if you are going nowhere or don't know where you are going, any road will take you there. So, I asked this question once again where is your mind?

I would say 90% of the accomplishments of life you had a vision. Now just because you only had a few accomplishments that don't mean that your visionary mind is not working. No, that only means that you are not putting enough in or what you're putting in it is not right. The Bible says that God has dealt to every man a measure of faith. I know we're not talking about faith, but faith pushes our vision.

Now, our motto is lots of faith lots of power, little faith little power, no faith no power. The same thing goes, lots of vision lots of outcomes, little vision little outcome, no vision no outcome.

There are three things that we should develop to make our visions come true.

  1. The discipline to start. There is a lot of people sleeping in their grave saying I started to.

  2. The conviction to continue. Don't listen to the Nay-Sayers. Others' vision is not your vision.

  3. The result to complete it. You're going to be confronted with difficulties and problems.

But learn this, your past is not your vision. Your vision is not behind you, it's in front of you. This is what Jesus said. No man put his hands to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the Kingdom of God.

Conclusion: Philippian 4:6-7 Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with Thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
